Students are paired with a mentor which provides them with a stable and healthy relationship with a caring adult. Mentors check-in with each student to provide emotional support, advise them academically, and evaluate their progress on their various goals. Mentors also facilitate Development Activities for youth to learn valuable life and educational skills.
Our program provides students with a lounge where they can study, do homework, and just hang out. The lounge is a safe space that facilitates community between students and allows them to build relationships with other youth in foster care who may share similar life experiences.
The Seed Program is in the process of developing an Educational Advocate Training for educators and caregivers to increase the awareness of the educational needs of youth in foster care.
